The List of Finallies Grows
Jul. 9th, 2006 05:25 amFinally got my period, though I don't feel substantially better (especially since it's come complete with diarrhea); finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, which we missed last night, even though we'd arranged to have
agincourtgirl babysit specifically so that we could go to it; finally finished watching Syriana, so I can now take it back and pay the $40.00 late fee I've no doubt already incurred. I also finally started updating my new website, in honor of my upcoming Festival o' Fear attendance. Unfortunately, there's a problem with getting rid of earlier posts that I need webmistress feedback in order to solve, since I am a Luddite idiot. Hoping to get that soonest.
In terms of Pirates, I enjoyed it a lot...probably the first film of the summer I enjoyed unreservedly, scarily enough. More on that later, maybe. Syriana was faultlessly interesting, meanwhile, a true tapestry; I think I got most of what was going on (and why), though I'm not sure if I eventually cared quite as much as George and Stephen wanted me to. This judgement isn't moral or political on my part, though--I actually like the fact that I often wasn't sure which way the characters would jump, or where they were going to end up when they did. Sure like to know how the CIA managed to rig their punchline, though...missiles from space? Why would they even need to employ guys like Bob Barnes, if it's that damn easy to take out whoever they deem superfluous? Etc., and etc.
But I may not be their target audience, anyhoo. After all, I can't even drive.
In other news, Cal still has that ear infection, and he's really pressing my buttons. Am trying to make that less so, since he is baby (or little boy, now) and all, while I am adult. But when he throws screaming fits because I'm trying womanfully to clearly distinguish between the time that we eat and the time that we read, it's sort of difficult.
