A Better Tomorrow?
Apr. 6th, 2006 03:10 pmYesterday's mail brought interesting news. Firstly: My Dad and his girlfriend Janina are coming to Canada, probably on or around June 7. I think seeing the latest batch of photos of Cal probably brought this on, but what the hell...it's welcome nonetheless, probably even more so. I can always stand to see my son getting love from his grandparents.;)
Also, the long-bruited copy of Horror Carousel containing the rewritten version of "Heart-Dust" finally showed up, which was funny, since I'd just been drunkenly unable to recall its name over Ad Astra weekend, while talking with Peter Halasz. The mag itself is naive but heartfelt, while its editor compared me favorably with Clark Ashton Smith and Lord Dunsany. Coolio! Plus, ten bucks U.S.
Finally, potential script purchase agreement documents arrived from Wildfire productions, re By Night. I say "potential" because, from my POV, negotiations will have to continue for a little while in order to make it worth my signing them--you know, I really do get that lawyers sort of feel it behooves them to screw their clients' partners out of as much as humanly possible, but when phrases like "any media known or unknown, throughout the universe, in perpetuity" start to occur, I get nervous. Anybody would. So now we'll see, but at least the producer seems like he genuinely wants to go forward, and I'll do everything to make it so (except lie down and show him my ass).
Okay, now I'm going to get ready to take Cal over to Heidi/Lena's, go off to work out, then school. Etc. But compared to yesterday, things are already looking up.
