It's Been 100 Years at Least!
Dec. 20th, 2005 01:58 pmOr not. Long time, anyhow, and the backlog of stuff I have yet to "respond to"--publicly, at least--is now fairly massive. So, quickly:
Saw Narnia, quite liked it, LOVED Tilda Swinton as Jadis. Noticed the mane, which made my bad heart sing: 'Cause that's how we do it in Charn, bitch! More to possibly follow.
Saw Kong, and enjoyed it immensely (heh). I acknowledge the oddness of the Skull Islanders, the strange ecosystem and historical debris, but deny the general opinion that the first section runs long, since I actually get a kick out of watching people interact sans as well as avec massive things trying to eat them constantly. My best glitch-y moment had to be the vampire bats vs. Kong fight, which smacked more than a bit of: Hey, dumb-ass, it can't be that you seriously never noticed this cave was full of bats before, can it? I mean, you LIVE there, you cranky old fool!
Ann Darrow + Kong = inappropriately sized cross-species OTP forevah, though. That shit just rocked.
Am now at school, waiting to do the Semester 5 picks. We've been told we have to take some ethics test over the 'Net in order to keep our jobs, but they're sure as hell not making it easy, and its title scares me a bit (Compliance Is Only The Beginning!).
And finally, went to Charlene and Hayden's Christmas party, which allowed me to reconnect with the many Diners I no longer see on a regular basis; good. Not so good was the realization that so many of them truly are geekish children themselves, as proven by their attitude towards Cal. At one point, I literally had to restrain myself from turning to a woman I've known for over ten years and saying: "Look, I'm sorry I had a kid, and I'm sorry you're an idiot. But if you ever make my son cry again, I'm going to punch you right in the fucking face."
Just the hormones talking? Maybe. But it's true nevertheless, and if that startles you, feel free to both pass on by and keep on passing, forever. Feliz Navidad, everybody!
