Did a fair amount of work today, much of which was "just" coallating notes and inputting them into various files…but you know what? That’s a lot of help, actually. If nothing else, it shows me what I need to do, what I can do, what I might do, with extreme clarity. Naturally, the lack of a bobo staggering drunkenly around the apartment while I did this was a definite plus, for which I can (and will) thank my Mom. God knows there’ll be much more to do tonight, but at least I’ll supposedly have Steve around to help, at that point.

Other news: The blinds finally came, and were put up. This means I can now sit in my living room around the crucial sun-glaring-in-your-eyes portion of the afternoon—five to seven or eight, these days—and watch what’s on television, as opposed to having to watch the dust on the screen shine with an ever-more fierce, increasingly opaque brightness, while indistinct shadows interact somewhere behind it. It also means we owe the blinds people over $600, but fuck it—this is very definitely the sort of thing that credit is FOR. We needed it, we have it, it’s done. On to the next thing on the list, vis a vis interior decorating (getting our light fixtures hooked up and working, I’d think).

Over the weekend, we saw The Skeleton Key (see Altered States reference above--didn’t suck, though Steve hated it, which gives you some idea of whether or not things end "happily") and The Island (also didn’t suck, though it was about as subtle as a sock full of oranges to the mid-section, and it sure as hell didn’t need to ccost as much as it apparently did). Also rented and watched Shallow Ground, the only ghost story I’ve ever seen that revolves around what turns out to be, essentially, a blood golem—and in case you’re worrying, that’s not much of a spoiler, since there are roughly 50,000 other plot threads involved. It’s well worth your time and money, making for an intense, striking debut; hope its writer/director learns to say ix-nay on the Carrie-brand stingers for his next project, though. It’s unnecessary, and sort of retroactively degrading to the rest of his otherwise very fine film.

Anyways, I have to go and pick up Cal. He has four teeth now, by the way: They came up while I wasn’t looking, though it does explain his disposition. I probably would’ve found them far faster if I still stuck my finger in his mouth on a regular basis, but to be frank, the first two sort of put paid to that idea.;)
