handful_ofdustThough hardly a useless day--I broke 2,000 words at least--it wasn't exactly the day I meant it to be, particularly in that none of those 2,000 words allowed me to finish A Book of Tongues Chapter Two (though I did figure out it actually wants to end halfway through the chapter as previously imagined, which should make writing Chapter Three a breeze). OTOH, I did at least manage to transcribe even more of the notes I've been carrying around in my purse for the last year and a half, thus getting me ever closer to my stated New Year's resolution of boiling everything down to one notebook and getting things transcribed/filed sooner rather than later.
A lot of today was actually spent working on The Clot, that other novel I'd decided I would back-burner for the nonce. The good part is that I rediscovered a lot of stuff I'd completely forgotten about, things that will make outlining said novel fairly easy; I also planned out a prologue, Chapter One and Chapter Two. The bad part, as already iterated, is This Is Not the Pitch You're Looking For...and neither is most of the rest of the note-pile, to be frank. But still, I felt like I was doing "my job".
Otherwise: There was a big blackout last night and Rod's home was somewhere in the middle of it, so no Rod. Instead, Mom and I picked up Cal, took him out for french fries and grocery shopping, after which Mom took him while I did yoga. Steve turned up later to escort us home, where we ordered in sushi and watched Flashpoint, followed by the BSG Final Season premiere. Cal was fairly crazy throughout--his utter fascination with his own reflection has gotten pretty creepy, especially so considering that I did indeed watch Mirrors again, recently--but went down easy(ish). Then I got caught up with various chores, Steve de-malwared my computer so I could get to my damn email, and...yeah, that's about it. My startling life.
Okay: One last pass to set up for tomorrow. I'm hoping to get up early, and do some work.
